Thanks Hal,

Still working out on how I'm going to mount this badboy to the Savage.
The slip-on portion of this particular no-name muffler is about the same diameter as the header pipe and just butts up against it. I suppose I'll have to fit some sort of an extention over both of them.
As this thing is certainly not made for a Savage, the single mounting tongue is too far forward and oriented incorrectly. Now I'm planning to fasten a small steel bracket plate to this tongue in hopes of somehow bracketing the assembly to the forward section of the existing exhaust support structure.

As for the sound, I gave it a momentary try with everything taped and supported in position. Very loud. Basically the same hollow pounding sound as running it with the header pipe only, just a little more muffled. I'm hoping once I get it all engineered and tightened up, it will offer more of a rumble than a pop.

My question now is, if the sound remains too offensive, what can you tell me about fibreglass packing. I've heard about it but can't picture how it could be fit to this type of exhaust. Is it just a matter of installing some kind of a screen with a few wads of fibreglass pink, or is it a model specific kit type installation and I'm completely out to lunch?

Thanks,
In need of a few tips.
